New York- 18 July 2023 – Under the theme: “Harnessing water and energy for Africa’s sustainable industrialization and inclusive economic transformation,” the Africa Day at the High-Level Political Dialogue will deliver concrete recommendations to feed into policies that will focus on the challenges and opportunities to accelerate the achievement of the UN Sustainable Goals and of the African Union Agenda 2063. The virtual event will take place on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM EST/12:30 PM – 3:30 PM UTC via Zoom.

Background
- Africa Day at the HLPF 2023 will focus mainly on countries presenting their Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) in 2023: Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia.
- The objective is to create a platform to exchange views, experiences, and best practices ahead of the SDG Summit of September 2023.
- This Africa Day event will bring together African Member States, development partners, and experts to address challenges and opportunities of water and energy harnessing for Africa’s sustainable industrialization and inclusive economic transformation.
