Sustainable Development Goals and Education

Today’s challenges and threats to peace, human rights, fundamental freedoms, international understanding and cooperation require new approaches to education. The newly adopted UNESCO Recommendation on Education for Peace and Human Rights, International Understanding, Cooperation, Fundamental Freedoms, Global Citizenship and Sustainable Development, commonly referred to as the Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development, is the only global standard-setting instrument that defines what needs to evolve in and through education to bring about lasting peace and foster human development. It outlines clear guiding principles, learning objectives and priority action areas that education stakeholders should prioritize to accomplish these goals.
