Operation Sneaky Peach: Statewide Child Exploitation Operation

Introduction

Thirty-one individuals were arrested over an eleven-day period in a statewide child exploitation operation named “Operation Sneaky Peach.” The operation was a coordinated effort by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit along with 24 participating agencies that are all part of the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Operation Sneaky Peach and Sustainable Development Goals

Operation Sneaky Peach was a statewide, multi-jurisdictional effort aimed at identifying and arresting individuals involved in technology-facilitated crimes against children. This operation aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

Operation Details

Operation Sneaky Peach involved three months of planning and included cases investigated by the GBI and agencies with the Georgia ICAC Task Force. Proactive investigations targeted peer-to-peer network users sharing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and conducted undercover chat investigations to identify individuals arranging to meet with a child for sexual acts.

During the operation, law enforcement agencies executed 34 residential search warrants and 3 additional enforcement actions in 28 counties across the State of Georgia. A total of 31 individuals were arrested, and 296 electronic devices were previewed on scene, resulting in the seizure of 281 electronic devices.

Operation Sneaky Peach identified 30 children residing in households where online child sexual exploitation was occurring. Additionally, four of the arrested individuals admitted to current or prior hands-on sexual offenses against a child.
